Attention Trekkies, and Everyone Else, too

How stinking awesome is this?!?! The British Ministry of Defense has developed a cloaking device, although they're not calling it that. If I remember my Trek science right, what we have here actually works on the same principles as the Klingon and Romulan gizmos.

About (Long Version)

I'm in the throes of Ph.D. studies, an experience I'm loving and for which I'm deeply grateful. The downside is that other things I care about get pushed aside. This is my attempt to create space for those things, which include: education, photography, geeky things, amateur enthusiasm about science, shenanigans, adventures, occasional navel gazing, un-ironic enthusiasm about just about everything, and non-academic writing about all those.

Forced once in a bar to answer the question, "No, but really, on a scale of 1 to 10, how Catholic are you?", I said 10. If you're wondering what that even means, so am I. Anyway, that Catholicy stuff's everywhere.

This is a non-anonymous, search-engine-anti-optimized blog. It's not secret or private, so share away! I use first names, initials, or pseudonyms for myself, family and friends, and my institutions so this blog doesn't come up in searches about those people and things.
