Melty Heart

One of my littlest girls (5th grade) gave me this note, written in the best penmanship you have ever seen. Ignore the fact that she obviously doesn't actually know me at all and focus on the unmitigated sweetness of it.

About (Long Version)

I'm in the throes of Ph.D. studies, an experience I'm loving and for which I'm deeply grateful. The downside is that other things I care about get pushed aside. This is my attempt to create space for those things, which include: education, photography, geeky things, amateur enthusiasm about science, shenanigans, adventures, occasional navel gazing, un-ironic enthusiasm about just about everything, and non-academic writing about all those.

Forced once in a bar to answer the question, "No, but really, on a scale of 1 to 10, how Catholic are you?", I said 10. If you're wondering what that even means, so am I. Anyway, that Catholicy stuff's everywhere.
