Lots of Catholics have a soft spot for Mary, and lots of Catholic converts and reverts had a soft spot for her well before they came into the Church. I'm one of those. She has had her gentle guiding hand on my back all my life.

We celebrated Mary's birthday (yes, we talked about it in plain English too, including the fact that it's not some random date - just count back 9 months and you get the Immaculate Conception - go figure) in class today by saying some Hail Marys!
